You come out of your reverie of turning the handsome guy into a fat handsome guy and say, "How likely is that?" to the empty room. "I need to get out and see the neighbourhood - meet some people or go do something," you say to yourself. "But what? I don’t know where anything is in this town.” You wander up to where your Dad is unloading the van.
“If you give me a hand this won’t take long,” he remarks in the kind of voice you pay attention to.
“Sure Dad,” you reply, grabbing a box. The two of you work away for a while, and the boxes rapidly disappear into the house. Your heavy furniture isn’t due to arrive with the movers for a few days, but you’ve brought some folding chairs and camp cots, plus a folding table and enough stuff to set up the kitchen - the most important room in the house as both your Dad and you agree. Once all the boxes are in, the two of you set about setting up the kitchen, which is quickly done - this new place is a lot bigger than your old house in Chicago, and there’s lots of space for everything. By the time the two of you are finished the kitchen, though, your stomach is rumbling, and your Dad looks tired.
“You sound hungry, Pete,” your Dad remarks. “You want to go get something to eat? I’m tired, I’m going to take a nap, but you’d better eat. Take the car and explore a bit - just bring me back a burger or shawarma or something. We’ll get groceries later.” He pulls the car keys out of a pocket and tosses them to you. “You’ll have to unlock the car and back it off the dolly,” he continues, “but just take it easy and you’ll be fine.”
Feeling really hungry - and exhilarated that Dad is suggesting you go explore all alone with the car - you reply, “Thanks, Dad. I’ll be careful.” You turn and head out the door, feeling really happy and hungry. As you start to unlock the car you see the handsome jock...
