I mean when they said that they had a unique business opportunity for anyone interested you assumed they meant something like a research project, or an extended exploration mission in one of those new cruisers that the Armada captains were so damned proud of, not working for some human on a Prim world. It's so bad that you can't even walk the streets without a stealth suit to hide you from the local populace.
You still wonder why Star Tech is being allowed to do this. Sure the Founder, or Founders or however you classify a multidimensional persona that is really more than one person, but act like they are all a singular entity... The numbing effects of the alcohol help to block out the looping stride of your previous thoughts and focus on the task at hand. The much more weird part would be that the human, for reasons the stars only knew, would purposely drink a solution that would reduce their size to that of a bug.
