Chapter #5

Making A Message

    by: Unknown
As you walk around the table a wicker trash basket comes into view. You had completely forgotten about that thing. It should be easy enough for even you to climb. The thing is actually close enough to the low table that you might be able to make the jump from the trash basket to the table. That does not seem ideal since you still have a sizable gap to jump and the fall would be fatal if you missed.

It would also be fatal if someone were to accidentally step on you while you were wandering around on the floor. Climbing that basket would be the best thing to do for now. The reeds the basket is made of are the size of logs to you and you would think that would make the basket easy to climb. That is not the case since the reeds are also very smooth and it feels like you are constantly on the verge of slipping as you climb. You do manage to make it to the top of the basket after a few minutes of struggling. Then all you have to do is muster your courage to jump from the basket to the table.

You note that the jump did not seem as long from the ground. The first time you try to make the jump your legs do not cooperated and you stay right where you are. You take a few seconds to breath before your next attempt. When you jump you actually manage to make it across the gap without much trouble. There is at least a foot between you and the edge of the table. At least something has been easy enough to do today.

Next, you head toward the bowl of jellybeans you had spotted earlier. You climb into the bowl and try lifting one of the jellybeans. They are heavy, not as heavy as a rock of equal size, but heavy nonetheless. You start tossing them over the side of the bowl so you do not have to keep climbing into the bowl. When that is accomplished you finally climb out of the bowl and think about what type of message you should make.

There is no need for a complicated message. If you arrange the jellybeans in the shape of an arrow, that should be enough. It would just take too much time and effort to actually spell out a message. After the first few minutes you start to get tired. Lifting all these jellybeans is backbreaking work. You are having trouble lifting the beans by the time you get to the end of the arrow. The quality of your design suffers as a result, but it still looks like an arrow.

Now all you have to do is sit down and wait for someone to notice you. It should not be that long before everyone in the house starts to wake up. Your girlfriend is up and about as well. She could come in here and notice the arrow and you at any second.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Somebody comes in and notices you.

2. Somebody comes in and doesn’t notice you.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
