Enter the stepbrother

Alice was peeking out from around the corner while Jon, her 13 year old stepbrother, walked into her rrom.
"Hey Alice, Mom's leaving and wants to make sure you know you're in charge until she gets back. Alice?"
Jon was a really sweet boy, and would be a real heart breaker when he grew up. Alice realized she should probably call out to him, so that he could go get help. But she was still freaked out from having woken up and finding herself just three inches tall. That didn't make her feel very adventurous, to say the least.
Jon called out her name one more time, and was leaving the room. Alice...
