"Don't call her that," James said, "if it wasn't for muggle borns, the wizarding community wouldn't exist!" "I was only joking Pad-" Sirius started to say, but cut himself off as James made his way through the crowd to catch up with Lily.
"Hey, Curly, wait up!" He called as he made his way beside her. "My name isn't Curly," she said looking insulted, "its Lily. And why are you following me in the first place? According to your friends I'm a - a mudblood!"
The noise around them stopped at the mention of the word. "Nothing to see here folks! Just playing around!" He said in a false, cheery voice and dragged her into the nearest shop (Eyelops Owl Emporium).
"Look, Sirius didn't mean that. I mean, he did grow up around Slytherins all his life, so you can't really blame him, can you?" he said as an excuse. "Well, I'm pretty sure I didn't see any of his family members with you, did I?" Lily said as she examined all of the different colored and sized owls.
"Look, I was trying to apologize, but if you won't have it then-" "I never asked you to apologize!" she said so loudly that the owls jerked awake and looked at her in annoyance, "Look, I don't have any patience with people like you or with people who call me childish names. Now, if you'd excuse me I've got to go and find my mother. I've got some shopping to do and hopefully I can find a bobby around here and have you arrested for harassment! Good day!"
