I don't like comedy: I don't write it, read it, or watch it, but "by golly" this is one hilarious story! I laughed all the way through and am still laughing, and any writer who can make ol' solemn-sided me laugh this much is a great comic talent! Gator Vampre is amazing: as a vampire, as an alcoholic trying to sober up in order to maintain his marriage, as a blood-drinker trying not to take out his spite on those who mock him, and as an inveterate Southern good-ol-boy, err: good-ol-vampire. Gator is in a class by himself-gotta love him! Reading this story is actually like watching it on film; the author knows how to dress up her characters, set the stage, and then let their actions, thoughts, and dialogue "speak for themselves." We don't only discover the character and personality of Gator, our protagonist; we learn much about several of the other characters, including his wife Sally and good buddy Bubba, and the manager of the local store, none of whom are present "on stage." It took me just a little time to accustom myself to the spelling of "vampire" as "vampre," but I quickly did and moved right into the flow of the story, and flow it does. This is a gem and I really must read further! Truly this is one of those treasures that appear when a reader/reviewer breaks out of her usual mold and goes for a genre or type that doesn't usually appeal. ** Image ID #1567064 Unavailable ** Reviewed on behalf of
