Reviews are limited by at least two things: The reviewer's knowledge/background and the author's temperament. Sometimes the reviewer's understanding and interpretation of a piece misses the mark. When the author believes this is the case, he can become hurt or angered. Please don't be. This review is neither a condemnation of your work, nor an extolment. It's just my opinion, nothing more.

You can try to kill it with kindness but I think that's more a fantasy than a truth. I think the best move is to keep your distance from ugly souls, they'll just drag you down. Sometimes, like with our family, it's not possible to keep away from them, and I guess that is where, "Kill them with kindness" becomes your best weapon. Well, I ignore them, but I doubt everyone can do that, lol.

The imagery is good, as you express the feeling in graphic terms, showing this ugliness, as a poison or a disease, needing to be eradicated.

I like these lines:

Pulling you into its darkness
It’s the only place it can survive

And they will try to drag you down to their level and make us feel worthless. I also like that notion that such ugliness can only survive in that darkness, that place of depression and general evil.

I just noticed the title. I like that, for sometimes that is what it comes down to: good versus evil. But mainly fighting evil with good, as you mentioned: kill it with kindness. It's certainly worth a shot, certainly better than stopping to their level, there is no way normal people can win that war. What is that saying? "Don't argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you... " Well, that goes for ugly souls too, lol.

As I mentioned before, there are some good images here, allowing the reader to grasp your intentions, and how you feel about this person and his/her behavior.

It is a good poem, with an important message, and even a moral: avoid those with ugly souls, however it is, you define that to be.
