Reviews are limited by at least two things: The reviewer's knowledge/background and the author's temperament. Sometimes the reviewer's understanding and interpretation of a piece misses the mark. When the author believes this is the case, he can become hurt or angered. Please don't be. This review is neither a condemnation of your work, nor an extolment. It's just my opinion, nothing more.

It is a tough poem to read because it's personal and quite sad, so I can p\only imagine how much pain there was during the writing of this poem. However, the poem is well written and captures your feelings, and the detachment that your mother felt as she grew more ill. It was undoubtedly tough to suffer and to know she had to leave those she loved behind, yes, indeed it's a difficult poem to read and write.

Though at times the meter is inconsistent, the emotion and poignancy is always effective and it's the tone that you've created so well, that carries this poem, and captivates the reader.

The most important part of this poem is in how she is remembered, how you look upon her and what she taught you, what she left you emotionally. And as your last line questions, I am sure she always will inspire you, her bravery alone should do that,

Forty-two is young, which makes the poem doubly sad, but your poem is a tribute to her and that is one way to show how you felt about her, and all she meant to you. It's a good poem.
