Hello bumfuzzled, (I like your user name by-the-way. *Smile* )
I am reading all the entrants to the Dark Dreamscapes Poetry Contest and reviewing those that catch my eye.
What I enjoyed most when reading Things of Nightmare's Dreams: the last stanza--all of it--with references to ghosts, phantom ships and whispers disturbing the dead. Sent chills along my spine.
Another thing I enjoyed was that your poem read like a poem. The rhythm felt consistant and I felt as if someone who is practiced at writing poetry was doing the writing. (I don't claim to be a poet, just someone with poetic moments. *RollEyes* )
What I liked the least--of all things--was the title. I'm sorry to say, but if Things of Nightmare's Dreams hadn't been a part of the Dark Dreamscapes Poetry Contest, I might never have read it. I think my first reaction to the title was that Nightmare's ARE Dreams albeit bad ones and the title sounded redundant. Once I thought about it, and tried to resolve what is was I didn't appreciate about the title; I think I settled on, maybe it referred to someone caught in a nightmare (in real awake time) and was asleep dreaming about it. Either way, I never fully resolved the title to my liking. Sorry, regard my comments about the title as a non-poet's opinion and just because I didn't understand it doesn't mean it is a bad title.

Overall, a good read. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
