A moving story depicting the sweet and lasting bond between a grandmother and her five-year-old grandson.

The two characters are vibrantly structured with economy of dialog and controlled emotions. The boy's understanding and belief in his grandma are touching. Innocent children, think the world of their loved ones.

The misfeatures of old age and the curiosity and bewilderment of the young are well brought together. He thinks the singing kettle could make her feel better.

The mild spoiling of the boy by his grandma is agreeable and natural. This happens with many grandmothers.
Although it is difficult to imagine, the way you have described the whole episode suspends my disbelief.

Prose style and sentence structure with smooth transformations appeal to me.
