Hi MM!
This is great! I don't come across Newbies who can write so well very often, but you have talent, my friend. This whole piece flows well, and your ideas of love are inspirational. Your prose, spelling, and grammar are superb. You can't tell me you haven't been writing for very long! And I seriously don't know who could have rated this only 3 stars!
I'm not sure if this was just a quick anecdote or the beginnng of something longer because it ended without and end, if you know what I mean. But either way it's very well written.
So why do say that you're 'not much' and have 'no real life to tend to'? If you're looking for a calling in life, then I think you have found it in writing.
A compliment and a couple of minor typos:
'the greatest pleasure to be somebody's someone.' (this is an excellent line!)
'My heart beat would've quickened(;) had Gemma not been there.' (should be a comma)
'...bag slung over her shoulder(;) we ran into the store.' (same here)
