Overall Impression:

The Poet tells of love lost, not recoverable, as the lover feels lost and "Sitting here alone with the curtains drawn", an experience I've read about many times this week as I've been busy with reviews. Love lost is always a great topic for a poem and Well written by someone who has felt such loss, not death, in their lives. I guess a Poet needs some experiences before they can write about them. I know that 'longing' and it just isn't fun.........feeling self responsible makes it deeply depressing as you indicated
" Because I'm too stubborn to admit I'm wrong"

You have defined the sweetness of falling in love long before, then with the loss later and the self-punishment that can come: "My pride unwilling to concede the fight"

I enjoyed this poem because it is so emotional and draining as i 'felt for' the one who still suffers.

Great poem.

Ann
