Hi David!
It wasn't that long ago that giving gift cards was indeed a sign that the giver was being cheap, but like you said here, the time's are changing, and you made some very valid points about why it's OK to do it now.
I have heard of Amazon, and I probably knew about thier gift cards, but after reading this piece I just might have to do this for my grandsons' birthdays.
