Your story, A HALLOWEEN TALE could easily be re-titled to

"The Brainless Horseman of Shippley Wallow."

And what a tale you weave .. in Halloween mood, complete with stranger in a strange land, an eerie & foggy night setting ... all coupled with a waitress's apt warning.

One knows things shall heat up after,

"Perhaps I should have heeded her strange prompt to spend the night."

Instead, readers shall find rented wheels becoming stuck in the mud ..

Where a "mad" teenage girl does linger.

Very good. Winners up later tonight.
Enclosed the treat of 2000 gp for entering. BTW this same incentive is available to all http://www.writing.com authors @ "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.

PS -- Dan, the turns of the phrases let me realize how well written this traditional short story delivers.
Like, e.g. "nocturnal chatter"
Like: the Texan poking fun at Yanks.
