Plot/story elements: Did I feel attached to the story or poem? I'm going to try my best to rate you objectively on this piece without letting my own personal bias affect the rating. At the end of the day, I too am only human and don't know if I can. I hate the argument pretty passionately, so in that regard I'm attached. You spend a lot of time trying to explain every day people are capable of committing horrible atrocities and I might believe that's true except they don't. The news is the news precisely because it incites emotions with stories that are irregular and we as a news consumer society, forget that. I also personal believe that people in positions of unbalanced power are more prone to mental illness as narcissism and bipolarity is more likely and therefore, dictators who are not every day people are more likely to be insane even if it goes undiagnosed. But, I do have a personal bias against dictatorships. Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else? No, probably not. It's not by personal brand of evangelization. But, I respect your right for it be yours. I don't as a usual topic of conversation make apologists for any dicators whether it be Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin or any of the others you mentioned. Was there a clear purpose to it? Here is where you lost me. I'm not even sure what your argument was so I'm not sure why I'm having such an adverse reaction. You're not really defending Hitler. I get that. But, you are making excuses for him because he's not as bad as the other dictators and that we should go soft on him because he didn't kill as many as other ruthless dictators? Or at least, that was my take. Glows: It was well written with no grammatical errors that I observed and I guess it did engage me as my review is already over 1600 characters. Grows: You come across as somewhat condescending in the first paragraphs. Most people choose Hitler because in Westernized cultures, he's worth studying as his history has direct ties to the West. I think most people know Stalin too as his history intersects the West. That's not to diminish other dictators like Pol Pot and Zedong but they're not Western and in Western schools you tend to focus on the history with the most implications to our own as time is limited. I'm sure for the Chinese and Cambodians they have their versions they learn. Miscellaneous Comments: The piece was well written and I'm not going to downgrade your rating because your authored POV but I am going to downgrade it for condescension. It's a trait in writing or any medium in that matter that I can't stand. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ~Tsa~ House of Greyjoy My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
