Plot/story elements:

Did I feel attached to the story or poem?

I live in a military city and many of my loved ones either are serving or have served. I chose this subject because it's near and dear to my heart.

Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else?

One of my neighbors suffers from PTSD and I think he would appreciate this piece and feel less isolated. It affects everything he does and it gets worse the older he gets. That's just one person and there are so many more out there.

Was there a clear purpose to it?

It questions how well we take care of our vets in this country. No matter how we feel about the politics about what we do with the military, I strongly feel we are obligated to take care of them to the best of our ability and the purpose of this piece is to illustrate that we are not taking that obligation seriously.

My favorite line is Uncle Sam gave no apology. It's true, he doesn't and he should account for every man he chooses to put in harm's way.

The mechanics of the poem are good. It's got a great rhyming structure and the rhythm is good. It flows well.

None. I think this poem is great just the way it is. Thank you for being brave and vulnerable enough to share it if indeed any part of this was your personal experience. If not, thank you for being a voice for those who don't have one.
