This piece is very interesting. You followed the instructions for the prompt well and I hope you enjoyed coming up with this. You can figure the child will be a well practiced surgeon considering he is so detailed. I hope he's not one of those psychopaths on "Criminal Minds" LOL

How did you come up with the story line for this piece? You have a way with words that I wish I had. It is interesting that his mother supports his dreams in such a weird way. Not sure that I would have done this for my children.
How did the pet die? What was so important about the specimen that he had laid out? Stan wanted to be a surgeon and sacrifices had to be made so was it hard for him to sacrifice his best friend? Why did he have him out under the leaves? Why not on a table or somewhere else? If mom really knows what he wants to be when he grows up, it would stand to reason that she would provide him with a better place than outside in the back yard.
This piece is well categorized, the characters are somewhat thought out. All in all it's a good piece. Keep writing.
