Plot/story elements: Did I feel attached to the story or poem? It's hard to watch our loved ones pass, especially when they suffer. I always wonder if it's worse to lose someone we're alienated from or those closer to us in our lives. For me, the hurt is different every time. I guess it's because no matter what, every relationship we have is unique. I'm sorry you lost your grandfather. It definitely evokes many personal memories. Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else? I think it's important to think about others in their times of loss. It grows our empathy and that grows our connection to others and ultimately makes us better to develop our characters in our writing. Was there a clear purpose to it? It's definitely a piece of loss and a heart wrenching attempt to come to terms with it. I felt the purpose loud and clear. Glows: It was explicit and clear which for me is unusual in poetry. But, i tend to like poetry grounded in an experience or story. It had a beautiful rhythm and rhyme pattern. My favorite line was last night I dreaded the coming of the dawn. Grows: The first stanza started with I in every line and then I thought it was going to continue in that same pattern but then it started to vary so the format confused me a little.
