Review of the Yule Lads

First and foremost, thank you for sharing your work . I am not an expert reviewer. I am just another writer, but I know it is the reviews that help us to perfect our craft. My opinions are just that; my opinions.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS:

This is a sixty-eight line poem about the sons of an old hag who lives on the mountain and like the witch in the Hansel and Greetle story in that she eats children.

PLOT & CHARACTERS:

The poem is written with a rhyming scheme of A A B B. Two of the rhyming couplets for each of the seventeen verses. Each of the hags sons come on a different day and there is a sense of order as they begin on December 12th and the final arrive of December 24th which is Christmas eve. Each of these lads eat something and I suppose they are frigthening.

SUGGESTIONS/EDITS:

While interesting story I found it a trifle slow and found it a bit too long.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Cut down the number of the hag's lads and make it a little scarier.
