Title of Work: : The Path (Short Story, Inspirational)
Author of Work: : Justice
Date: : July 26, 2016

Plot:
A man struggles to find his way back to life, amid the crucible of a well-worn path

Scene/Setting:
The author is forty years old and tired of being tired and unfit. He decides to do something about it. He goes to the woods and starts to walk a path. In his younger days he did running in college and he was determined to get that back again. Day after day he walked the path, keeping a careful journal of the miles he traveled. The path became familiar. He placed rocks at its edge to mark his journey. Each day he did less walking and more running.

When he turned forty-one he went to the doctors for a regular visit. The doctor told him his heart had a problem and he needed an operation. He would have to give up the walking and the running for a while. This was a hard thing, because he looked forward to each run of each day. After the operation, it took a long time for the doctor to give him permission to start walking again. Walking not running. He couldn't find the old path so he started a new one. He realized the path was like life. There were always new paths out there, we just had to have the courage to walk them.
