Initial hook:

"Could you identify for the court the man you saw?"

It's always good to start with a question, especially when you need to get and hold people's attention like in a micro story.


Plot:

A man must lie to protect his family.


Setting:

A courtroom in modern days, I think.


Theme

Protecting family at any cost, even truth and the law, loyalty.


Characters:

We instinctively feel sympathy towards someone doing something for their family. Of course, we have no knowledge if this is the Krays or a perfectly blameless family, but the effect still works!


Atmosphere/tone:

You do get tension in there along with everything else, which is excellent.


Dialogue:

'He's your client.' I thought bitterly.

It's convention to put thoughts in italics rather than speech marks- save those for actual speech.


Parts I liked:

I thought you showed great mastery to get so much in so few words!

Parts I thought needed more work/questions:

No confusion.


Grammar and Technical Advice

No issues.


Overall impression and reason for rating:

A really nice micro story.
