Ahoy, Chris! This is a very thought provoking essay, and yes I've thought about it, and I agree with it completely. It leads to the question: who really writes the story, the author or the characters? Personally, I thrive on being able to control the lives of my characters. I can make them happy, sad, melancholy, angry, etc. Or I can simply kill them off on the fist page! But my own characters won't go faceless. No, no, no. They have to at least build up some character, just so the reader(s) ![]() ![]() But I do agree with this, and I think all writers, especially those write books and become authors, eventually live through their characters. And just like when we come to the end of a good book, it's almost sad to read that last page because that usually means they will be gone. And that holds true for the author. As for my own writing? My Muse has been MIA for a while, but I have people looking for him right now as we speak, so it shouldn't be too long before old Angus (with a little help from his sidekick, Quex) gets another one out. Hopefully! Kee ponw ritin gon, Chris, and thanks for sharing this! Oh, and have a wonderful and...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
