Dear Carly,
What a great beginning you have for a longer story! It pulled me in from the beginning. Good use of the prompt words. I know this was for a contest entry with a limited amount of words, but I think you could have expanded it and made it longer. Instead, we don't know what happens next. It is more like a part of a story instead of a complete one.
