This is a very good poem with an unique concept. Yes self-help is the key to success. If we have good self-esteem we can achieve many things in life.

Your poem has many inspiring verses telling by these lines
“I won’t even feel the anguish.
The scars will heal so smoothly.
I’ll wrap myself in colors
And nod just like I mean it.”
