*Candleb*HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary ReviewsOpen in new Window.*Candlev*

Hi Sara♥Jean Author Icon! I'm stopping in your port today to read and review your piece on reviewing! *Laugh* Happy 14th Account Anniversary and I hope you are enjoying the WDC birthday festivities! *GiftO* *Bigsmile*

*StarB* I really really appreciated reading your reflection on your journey through reviewing. Reviewing is definitely something that it takes time to learn how to do kindly, while also providing useful and constructive feedback to the writer. We are all still learning, so I'm really glad I was able to read your piece today and reflect a bit on my own reviewing journey.

*StarG* It's a little bit nerve-wracking reviewing a piece about reviewing! I can personally relate to your progression and the changes to your reviewing style that occurred through your years here. I'm not going to look back at my early reviews now (*Crazy*), but I'm sure they looked a lot like your early reviews. I received a lovely review from a newbie just the other day that looked like these as well. Good praise, approximately 4 lines long, no suggestions for improvement, and 3.5 stars. I'm not one to throw a fit over a rating, but I'd like to know how I can improve, which is something Reviewing groups here on WDC are doing such a magnificent job teaching members about. And I thank you as well for your thoughts and hard work on this.

*Starb* I used to feel so pressured to point out every grammar and punctuation mistake in something I read, that reviewing became more of a chore and less of something fun that I enjoyed doing. I dreaded having to write a review on a piece because I was so caught up in making sure EVERY thought I had on the writing was included in my review. I'm sure my reviews weren't very kind or constructive either, a point you hit on in your writing. Because of this, I stopped reviewing for a long time, which was honestly upsetting. Now, I've taken on a new strategy - I want to review for fun, and this to me means stripping away all the fluff of review templates and just writing to the author of the piece like a friend. I'll say what I think, be gentle about suggesting improvements, and be clear about what I liked and how improvements can be made. If I enjoy writing the review, I hope this will translate to the writer enjoying reading the review as well.

*Starg* The comments I have for you on how to improve this piece are completely related to its formatting as your grammar/punctuation is flawless *TrophyG*. Perhaps this is just me, but text size is something that really helps me when reading a piece. A longer piece with size 3 text tends to feel daunting and like a sea of words when I first open it to start reading. And with your piece especially, where you have several of your reviews quoted, the text size being the same throughout makes it more difficult to differentiate the sections of the piece. Perhaps by making the main body of your writing size 3.5 and leaving the quoted reviews at size 3, it would give them more separation and definition.

*Starb* Thank you for sharing your writing! Happy Account Anniversary and happy WDC birthday week as well!

Take care,
Emily
