Hello there, White Flower!
I'm no expert on poetry, so I won't go do a 'technical' review of this, but I thought it wasn't bad.
I see that you're from Australia, so I would presume you know a lot about wide-open spaces, eh? I've never been there, but outside of the larger cities, that's how I envision it anyway. The reason I bring that up is I like the point you made with this poem; we do have a whole world to live in (minus certain communist countries-I'll be damned if I'll even get anywhere N. Korea! *Laugh*), so to whine about where one's living doesn't make a lot of sense. Granted it takes some $$$ to move, but it can be done!
As far as living on a farm, I've lived on one. Also lived in the big city, but I'm a country boy by heart. As far as I'm concerned, if those city-slicker idiots want to live in their concrete jungles all their lives and think that going out in nature is going to the park and seeing a squirrel, more power to 'em! *ThumbsDownL* *Laugh*
But I used to cut firewood for a living, and I've seen some things in the woods that most city boys couldn't imagine!
OK. I just had to get that out. I feel better now! *Bigsmile*
Anyway, as I said, this isn't bad, WF, as far as the subject matter.
