Unexpected. Spooky. Mystical. A little scary. Who is Mr. Moonlight? I have never heard the song he refers to. It made so much sense that the taxi's engine turned back on. Is that what it's like when death catches a ride with a cabby?
This was super well written. Kept me captured from beginning to end. It really picked up steam once Mr. Moonshine was in the car, but even before, his presence was ominous. That much was clear when Maria thought that he hadn't been there just a moment before.

This brief introduction does make me want to read on, yet it also feels somewhat final. Maria questions at the end of the chapter how he knows what he knows and why she should share a hotel room with him, but because the story makes it feel as if he is death, it does not feel like there should really be more as the intro "whet the whistle" makes it sound. That would be something to think about, how to keep the cliffhanger, but also make the cliffhanger more immediate and make the reader want to read on.
