It is a poem about despair & fear. You can understand that poem carries a negative sense before reading the poetry from the title. But it is not such. We do not know when despair will appear. If it will come, what will we do? That wise advice is given in the poetry. So it becomes an influential poem for us. How will we avoid fear in our life? A clear direction is given.
