The Barn Owl That Said Mooooo [E] A barn owl, that didn't say whoooo but instead said moooo, for The Comedy Club Contest. |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" First Impressions: That was an adorable story. I could imagine it all so well: the little barn owl, the cows and the farmer. There was one scene near the beginning, where Farmer Bob dances into the barn - it seemed like a scene from a children’s TV show and it made me smile. As it was written for small children, I assume that a published version would have illustrations of the animals, the farm and the farmer, and this scene in particular would make a hilarious picture. The little owl tried so hard to converse with the cows, and with their help, he not only manages it but the cows learn to speak his language as well. It was a well-rounded tale, and a fun read. Suggestions: Hooter does not speak or understand them “Hooter does not speak or understand their language”, maybe? Or, “does not speak their language or understand them”? Farmer Bob start to laugh “starts” as he gets getting better and better “as he starts getting better” or simply, “as he gets better” says, Farmer Bob You don’t need the comma here. take care of the last few chores he needs to take care of I would omit the second “he needs to take care of” here. Final Thoughts: I can’t remember the last time I read a children’s story. It was probably when my kids were little and I was reading to them, and I can imagine that this story would work very well read out loud, with all the “hoooing” an “moooing”. It must be great fun both for the parent and the child, who would probably hooo and mooo along. The ending made me smile as well, when the farmer felt it was best if he let his wife dooo the rest of his chores - he really got into the whole animal language, didn’t he! It was a lovely story, and I would think that any three year old would love it. ** Image ID #2154080 Unavailable ** My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
