Instincts of My Inner Animal [ASR] For contest--What kind of animal are you? Here's my answer |
This is a "Game of Thrones" review! Hello, Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ! Overall Impression: This is another excellent take on spiritual awakening and self-discovery. Form, Rhythm, Cadence, and Style: This poem again uses free form to its advantage. The lack of a fixed meter allows for the fluid unpredictability of the writer's journey. Without a rigid structure, you can fully explore the wild nature of the wolf. Again, you use imagery effectively to show us the profound impact the totem wolf has had on you. The flow and structure work well for the topic. Content: Further delving into the personal transformation you embarked upon when meeting the totem world, you offer a deep understanding of yourself. Your language choices are again clear, provocative, and vivid, allowing the reader clarity in a complex experience. Each stanza adds a layer to your and the reader's experience, aligning human experience to the attributes of the wolf. It challenges the reader to examine how their life is guided and if it aligns with the concepts of wisdom, respect, and a bond (or at least understanding) of the natural world. Would I change anything? Probably not. I lean toward specific personal anecdotes, but that's a stylistic choice (and probably makes my stuff too wordy). You've effectively communicated what you wanted, and I have no notes on improvement. You're very blessed to have the totem wolf in your life. I understand the roles of guides and guardians, with fierce loyalty and courage to challenge wrongs. Relying on their personal strengths, they allow an unusually deep connection to oneself and allow you to develop trust in your intuition. This is beautifully communicated in the poem (and much more poetically than what I just said!). Grammar and Mechanics: I found no problems in this area. Final Thoughts: Powerful language and bright imagery once again provide a lovely reading experience. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
