White Balloons [ASR] I passed by a cemetery today... |
Hi Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ , This review is a part of "Game of Thrones" [13+]. Overall Impression: This is a sad but beautiful poem, which cleverly uses some excellent imagery to express the depths of the tragedy witnessed. The poem describes a scene set at a cemetery. The narrator questions what is happening and using a series of images guides the reader to the terrible conclusion that it is a child who is being buried. The white balloons, who are a surprising element of the initial scene, take on deeper meaning towards the end - the haunting reminders of a childhood lived and lost. A symbol of grief, and tragedy, that will no doubt take a long time to let go of. This is a free verse poem and you made good use of rhythm, pacing and spacing. The questions written in italics are effective and helped guide me along the narrator's thoughts. Your use of punctuation is effective, too. Excellent work, Webbie. Suggestions: I have no suggestions. There are no spelling errors, no issues with grammar, rhythm, flow or anything else that I feel could be improved. Once more, good job! My Rating: This is a beautiful and heartbreaking poem. It is a powerful read. I had no suggestions. Therefore, I will give this item a rating of 5 out of 5. Thank you for sharing your work. Write on!
