"The Best Gift" [13+] Dad left with autistic child after wife's death.(WC's 7th. B-day contest) |
Hi Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ , This review is a part of "Game of Thrones" [13+]. Overall Impression: As an autistic person the brief description of this item caught my attention and anyway, I'd reviewed several of your poems so I figured I should try a story, too! I am glad that I did because this is a very touching item. A man loses his wife in a car accident. His daughter is rescued by C-section, and alongside his grief he discovers that he has trouble connecting with her. She turns out to be autistic. Thankfully, he meets a counselor who teaches him how to communicate with his daughter. Over time, he falls in love and the feeling is mutual. And then he discovers something very special... The story is one of loss and grief and healing. It may seem impossible to find new meaning in life, but you never know who or what is around the corner. Miracles can happen when you least expect it. All in all, this made for a sweet and meaningful read. Thank you! Suggestions: I do have a few suggestions. I hope you will find them helpful! Paragraph 1: Hannah so loved life There is an extra space here that can be deleted. Paragraph 2: There are three instances of the word 'just' very closely together in this paragraph. It may be worth it to have a look if you can reword this slightly to avoid that bit of repetition. Paragraph 3: in a loving father daughter way. I think that 'father daughter' should be father-daughter here. My Rating: This is a sweet, inspirational story. I am glad I decided to read it. I did have some suggestions. Nothing major, though. Therefore, I will give this item a rating of 4.5 out of 5. This is the end of my reviews (for now ). You can come back out of hiding! Thank you for sharing your work. Write on!
