*PenB* First Impressions:

When I started reading, I had David Bowie’s “Life of Mars” playing in my head, but I soon realised that this story was about something completely different. It’s about actually finding life on Mars, and not friendly life, either, but a frightening monster. I knew Norman was doomed when he said, “I’m sure it’s harmless.” which sounded like famous last words, and it turned out they were. I liked the way you described how the small furry animal seemed to be tethered to something under the ground , but it turned out, the ‘tribble’ was just a small part of a far larger monster.

*PenG* Suggestions:

The story was very polished, and I didn’t notice any errors. The only suggestion I have is to make the font a little bigger to make it easier to read on a screen. The default size tends to be a bit small.

*PenP* Final Thoughts:

This appears to have been a contest entry, and I thought this was a very creative take on the prompt which I am guessing is the part in bold. It always helps me to know what inspired a story, and in this case I appreciated it even more because I would never have thought of something like this for the prompt. It could also be part of a longer story as the readers didn’t know if Jack managed to escape in the end, but I assume the contest had a word limit. A good story!

Come on in and join the fun!
