It's truly interesting poetry based on the convention of a short encounter between a hungry worm and a delicious-looking apple.
The worm looks ugly as usual, whereas the apple looks beautiful as usual. So, pride can be seen on her part.
The entire thing is very clear within a little bit of conversation that should be considered as a beauty, an uncommon technique in poetry.
