Miss Froggy [E] The life of a lady frog... |
Greetings, Amethyst Snow Angel, I am reviewing this today as a judge for the "Writing 4 Kids Contest-CLOSED till May" . And you are one of five entries! First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. Followed the prompt & rules First Impression: This is a nice little piece that begins with Miss Froggy sitting on a lily pad, eating flies. You take us through the seasons with Miss Froggy, describing what she does in each one. When spring arrives, she becomes a mom to tadpoles. In the end, the seasons have come full circle and Miss Froggy is back to sitting on the lily pad, eating flies. Favorites: In autumn when leaves turn golden and brown Miss Froggy eats extra and then hunkers down; Final thoughts: Great sequencing through a year with a frog! Just a few suggestions...You left out punctuation in a few places, which in children's poetry, is important so they know where to pause, and where a sentence ends. Also, your meter began perfectly, but then you gained a syllable or so, especially toward the end. It's an easy fix, of course. I liked how you included a link for more information on the life cycle of a frog. Nice entry! Best of luck in the contest. And be sure not to make any changes till after the winners are announced.
