Sitting Pretty in the Sun [E] Writing for kids prompt August |
Greetings, Lizzie Winter's Fairy, I am reviewing this today as a judge for the "Writing 4 Kids Contest-CLOSED till May" . And you are one of five entries! First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. Followed the prompt & rules Mostly, yes, but the font size could be larger. In the August post, I included Please use a font size that is easy to read. It's not a huge deal, however. First Impression: A nice little poem about a frog who wants to play and be friends with someone who is sitting pretty in the sun. Nice repetition. The flow is pretty good, as is the rhyming. The voice is definitely childlike, which is great. Favorites: Sitting pretty in the sun, Do you want to play? I know a game that's fun To pass the day away. Final thoughts: I didn't find much imagery here, which is important in children's stories and poems. Perhaps you could add more descriptive visuals, like what kind of game did they play, for one thing. Give it a bit more depth with more details. It's a nice little poem, it just needs some life breathed into it. Thank you for entering the contest. Best of luck! And be sure not to change anything till after the winners are announced.
