Twist That Ending! [E] Ever wonder how to write a twisted ending? Don't be predictable. Learn the art. |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" Hello, Deborah Owen! INITIAL IMPRESSION / OVERVIEW: I enjoyed reading your "Twist that Ending" article today. Your writing kept me riveted and I read straight through to the end. MORE DETAILED FEEDBACK: Happy Writing.Com Anniversary month! I hope you enjoy this review as a celebration of your time here and find the review uplifting and encouraging. I want to get better at twisting the endings of my short stories, especially my flash fiction, so your title grabbed my attention. Then I clicked to open the article and saw that it was nicely arranged for easy reading, admired the short paragraphs and abundant white space, and then immediately read the whole thing. I'm not sure that I learned anything that will help me but maybe it hasn't sunk in yet. However, I did enjoy reading your article. I especially liked that you included concrete examples of twisted endings to multiple stories. One thing I did learn was that maybe my being a more of a panster is part of why I have trouble twisting the endings. It's fun to just see where stories go. I thought it was a good suggestion to pay attention to how Alfred Hitchcock twisted his endings. He truly is a master. And that should be some good reading. I don't think I've ever actually read any of his books, but I have watched a few of his movies and they were gripping. I didn't notice any spelling or grammatical mistakes (or mistakes of any kind) in your "As the Day Unfolds" poem. I thought the writing, self help and educational genres you selected were appropriate for this informative article of yours. IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR PIECE STRONGER: In the spirit of helpfulness, I have one little suggestion to make your piece stronger. If you're interested in some constructive criticism, read on. But if you aren't, no worries. Just know that I enjoyed your piece and move on to the next section. Still reading? You're brave! Yay for you! Really, the only thing I can think of for this article would be a few more examples. Maybe things typical of what gets submitted to the Daily Flash Fiction Contest here. That's where I'm writing most of my flash fiction for these days, and I doubt I'm alone. I know I said just one thing, but the other has nothing to do with this article. It's that I also checked out your portfolio and the link to your charity seems to be broken. I don't know if the charity is no longer running or if that's something you would want to fix or just take the link out, but thought you would like to know. It sounds like a great charity, which is why I clicked to check it out. As with any review, please take what serves you and release or ignore what doesn't. CONCLUSION: I enjoyed reading your informative article, and expect that I'll be back to read more of your writing in the future, so I favorited you here. Thank you for sharing your time, creativity, knowledge, experiences, and writing with the Writing.Com community! Once again, happy anniversary month! I hope the year ahead is filled with blessings and joy for you! May love, joy and peace be yours in abundance! PWheeler A SuperPower Reviewers Choice review!
