The Son of Man [13+] a man's quest for progress is foiled with disillusion |
It is my pleasure to read your story, "The Son of Man." Congratulations on your 19th WDC Anniversary! Reader's Reaction: What a sad situation for Montgomery! He worked for fifteen years, putting in a twelve hour days of work, typing monotously in a chilly cubicle. Then one day he receives news... Characters/Dialog: The characters are well-defined. Most of us can relate to Montgomery who worked hard, hoping all is well. Then one day bad news shows you all is not as well as you thought. The dialog is well done. Tone/Mood/Atmosphere: The tone is anxious, humble, and resigned. The mood is depressing, foreboding, and upsetting. Plot & Pace: The plot revolved around "A man's quest for progress is foiled with disillusion. Structure/plot/setting & Imagery: The structure showed the setting, great characters, along with a plot that's filled with great descriptions and imagery. Favorite Lines: Monday morning was drenched with polluted rain. He adjusted the sleeve of his oversized black coat, wondering what it would feel like to wear something that didn’t feel so threadbare. The matching black bowler hat was a size too big; something borrowed from a friend just so he could fit in with the others at work. Overall Impression/Conclusion: Everyone wants to fit into society. No one wants to stick out that makes people stare. This was Montgomery, wanting to be successful, but it's never to be. The conclusion showed hope for Montgomery, will it be good news or bad?
