Living in a suburb of Los Angeles, watching helplessly as fires eat up thousands of homes and businesses, this poem fills me with current and highly frustrating images.
Written in 2016, these lyrics are just as relevant today as they were then. Austerity is not a cure for a bad economy. It's disguised violence much like the "Work makes you free" slogan on the concentration camps.
A few writing pointers that stood out to me while reading:
Austerity Hides The hands of Fate the Hands
what I've learned in life. Sharing is caring. What
Tying society up so we react to late. too
Very thought-provoking song. You should bring it to life for the masses. I recommend to make it sound upbeat and fun like "Pumpled up Kicks" by Foster the People. The juxtaposition of the danceable tune to the horrific words worked perfectly and it could work here too.
