A Knight's Work [ASR] Sir Trent has a problem |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" First Impressions: I chose this story to review because I was looking through your portfolio and noticed that it didn’t have any ratings so I wanted to remedy that. It was a good choice! I knew this would be a fun story when I read that the main character was a Knight of the Oval Table Poor Sir Trent did indeed have a problem - actually, he had two. First, he found that his chain mail shirt had apparently shrunk in the wash, and before he could quite recover from that disappointment, he was suddenly employed as the castle plumber. I’m sure when his wife suggested that he should find an activity to take his mind off the issue with the shirt, he imagined something completely different! I enjoyed the language you used, which made the issue with the toilet even funnier. Sir Trent tried his best but only resulted in making a mess at first, until he figured out both how the magic contraption and the plunger worked. The main thing was that he wasn’t inclined to give up, and he kept trying to find a solution until he got there. The descriptions were hilarious and had me chuckling a few times. Suggestions: The story was very well written and I didn’t notice any errors. I do have a couple of suggestions but they are not about the story itself but rather the presentation: I would recommend using a larger font to make it easier to read on the screen - the WdC default font is rather small. Also, I’m always curious what inspired a story so if this was written for a contest with a specific prompt, I would suggest adding a link to the contest or at least saying what the prompt was. Especially for a tale like this, I can’t help but wonder what made you write it! Final Thoughts: I would ordinarily recommend picking a third genre in addition to Comedy and Entertainment (which are both perfect) but I can’t actually think of one that would fit. I liked everything about this tale, and the last sentence was a fitting ending. A great read! A Review from: "Positive Hearts Reviews Group" This review is affiliated with The B.E.A.R.
