Dear Me [E] 2020 Entry |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" Hello, Nikola - Coffee Drinking Lady!, aka nmarshall! INITIAL IMPRESSION / OVERVIEW: I enjoyed reading your 2020 "Dear Me" letter every time I read it, including today. Your writing kept me riveted and I read straight through to the end each time. MORE DETAILED FEEDBACK: Happy Writing.Com Anniversary month! I read this "Dear Me" letter of yours sometime in the past and enjoyed it, but didn't have time to review it right then, so I flagged it for an anniversary review (meaning I saved the link to it in a special "January" file. ). I hope you enjoy this review as a celebration of your time here and find the review uplifting and encouraging. Can you believe it's already the last day of January? I meant to check and see if you wrote one for this year, but seem to have run out of time. I still need (okay, just want) to edit mine one more time before I go to bed. I hope you did though. I found this one encouraging and fun to read and if you wrote one for this year, I'd like to read that too. I loved how your letter read so personably and like it was really written to yourself or a great friend. I wondered if you succeeded in publishing your book of poems? That is on my list too, not onmy dear me letter, but my mental list of things I want to do. I have three collections gathered and ready to go. I just need to format them. If you did publish, feel free to share the link when / if you respond to this review. I liked the red thumb tack emojis you used to highlight your goals. That made them stand out nicely. I might do that some day in the future. That saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery is true. My favorite line was the "I have an entire new year to fill with words." It made me smile. I love your love for writing and words. Lovely! I thought you did a great job with following the guidelines of the official writing.com contest for this letter. Some people have been disqualified for forgetting to include the word count. Sad but true. Not you though, you remembered. I thought the biographical, contest, and writing.com genres you selected for this "Dear Me" letter were appropriate matches for it. IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR PIECE STRONGER: In the spirit of helpfulness, and because of the requirements of a new reviewing challenge I joined recently, I have three little suggestions to make your "Dear Me" letter stronger. If you're interested in some constructive criticism, read on. But if you aren't, no worries. Just know that I enjoyed your piece and move on to the next section. Still reading? You're brave! Yay for you! I believe you have either a typo or spelling error in the following line: "I've barely written since I moved 3 years ago--only a joted poetic musing now and then." I think perhaps you meant "jotted" instead of "joted." That's so easy to fix. Just add a "t." If you make my suggested change, the line would then look like this: "I've barely written since I moved 3 years ago--only a jotted poetic musing now and then." I believe you have a typo in the following line: "<y heart lies in poetry and short stories." I think that you meant to hit "M" instead of "<" ... they are neighboring keys, and it's so easy to do! I probably have some typos in this review. If you make my suggested change, the line would then look like this: "My heart lies in poetry and short stories." While perfectly appropriate, the "other" genre isn't likely to net you more future readers, as I don't think anyone searches for that. I'd recommend choosing a different genre, as people do search by genre here. Perhaps "personal," "experience," or "hobby" might be nice options? There's a drop down list, as you know, because you had to use it to select other. I don't have it memorized; those are just some suggestions. The actual list will probably be more helpful. As with any review, please take what serves you and release or ignore what doesn't. CONCLUSION: I enjoyed reading your "Dear Me" letter , and empathized with your sentiments that you expressed in it, and hoped you achieved all of your goals for the year you wrote it. Thank you for sharing your time, creativity, heart, experiences, and writing with the Writing.Com community! Once again, happy anniversary month! I hope the year ahead is filled with blessings and joy for you! May love, joy and peace be yours in abundance during this New Year, your anniversary month, and always!
