Rain's Healing Sound ![]() dancing prayers for rain ![]() |
Hello, turtlemoon-dohi, Here is a review for your "Rain's Healing Sound" ![]() Comments and Observations: What a brilliant, storytelling, picture-drawing poem! I could almost see the warrior's rain dance as if it were right in front of my eyes. This whole poem not only draws a very vivid picture but also it beautifully captures a sacred tradition and its spiritual depth. Your images drew me into the poem immediately, images such as, "turquoise moccasin feet", "silver bracelets, beads, and three eagle feathers", "red-threaded tapestries" ...while it also offered another look for me at an honorable tradition with appreciation. Also, ""Great Mystery," "Earth Mother," and "spiritual ears" captures the connection between the people and the earth as well as the connection between the past and the present. Ending the poem with its title "Rain's Healing Sound," ties everything together with subtle emotion and appreciation for this certain culture. As to the form, I like that you used couplets. I like using them very much, myself, and I know how difficult it is to smooth out syllabic pacing. Still, your poem reflects its main idea so well, that even if a few technical flaws were present, they wouldn't be noticeable. Plus, it has a pleasing flow, if read out loud. In short, I loved the entire poem because I only watched this type of a rain dance in the movies, and your poem made it much more real for me. Congratulations for writing such a special, heartfelt, rich. and spiritual piece with poetic grace. Suggestions on the text as to grammar, usage, and punctuation I didn't see any flaws in this area. Best wishes with your work. ![]() ![]() ![]()
