I was searching for a topic about which to write in this weeks Noticing Newbies newsletter, and decided to check out my Notepad. You see, with a Premium membership I can maintain up to 25 individual pages in my Notepad--pages that may contain story ideas, grammar tips, important/useful posts from various Help forums, links to WDC resources, or even ideas for newsletters. This week's topic came from such a page.
By the way, even free members can host one Notepad page; paid members can host additional pages. Think of your Notepad as a sticky electronic post-it with each page capable of holding up to 20,000 characters. That's a lot of potential organization for your Portfolio. If you want more information about the Notepad, check out "Notepad" . Now on to the subject at hand....
Consider WDC as a three-legged stool with each leg composed of a vital and necessary group of people.
Since September 2000, more than one and a quarter million people have joined WDC as members with many still active. The WDC servers store the support system for the entire WDC framework, the portfolios of all its members and almost half a million items. This is a tremendous undertaking created and managed by a husband and wife team, The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress . One Senior Moderator, Jeff , assists this first leg of support by helping complete selected functions best fulfilled by a staff account.
The second leg is made up of six Senior Moderators (purple cases) and 80 Moderators (blue cases). They've been hand selected and promoted by Writing.Com Staff because they have shown to be both knowledgeable about the halls of Writing.Com and are extra helpful to other members. They are volunteer leaders and are usually able to answer most site related questions for members who need help. They pen the official WDC newsletters and are often found around the site offering encouragement to members daily.
The third and final leg are you--the members. Whether a Registered User (gray case), a Registered Author (black case) or a Preferred Author (yellow case), you are a critical part of the WDC support system. Almost four hundred thousand members from many of the world's 195 countries around the world make WDC what it is today.
Writing.Com is a diverse and varied platform for the aspiring writer to polish his or her writing craft. It's a task best accomplished with lots of help--help you can find here. Best of luck with all your writing endeavors.

Thanks for spending time with me today. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.
From the newsfeed and mailbag:
From shepherd46: Yes, I could change if necessary and i have several times. Change is sometimes difficult but if your health and well-being are in jeopardy, change is vital.
Especially appropriate with the situation going on today.
From Chibithulu (Alyssa) : I try to change for the better when I can. I want to be more compassionate, loving, and understanding. That's a tall order, I know, but it just comes with the territory of heading toward the finish line with a human heart.
Definitely something worth aspiring to.
From Veritas : I don't know the meaning of the word stable.
I think you're ahead of many of us.
From hbk16: You advise newbies to develop new interactive links with other members. It is available for all members indeed
Good advice!
Thanks.
