The Meaning Of Life

*Gift1* Life resembles a novel more often than novels resemble life. *Gift1*
George Sand

The topic I have chosen to write about for this issue is one which has occupied the greatest minds in all of history. It is the subject of debate between friends, the cornerstone of many world religions, and the basis, whether chosen or unconscious, for how people choose to live their lives.

Life ... we all have it. So what is it all about? Is it all just about existentialism? It's all about me, my experiences, and my wants, because this really world has no meaning. That is one theory.

I would love to hear people's opinions on this topic, so have created a series of polls.

I look forward to seeing the answers come in. A summary of them is planned for my next issue, on 7th June.

Till next time;

         Not at all. *Smile*

Wow Puditat... you have probed into my own heart and mind with this NL. As a result, both have been opened just a bit wider along with my eyes. Thank you, and well done my friend!

"How Much Did Your Bible Cost?" was a wonderful addition Puditat. Thought provoking and inspirational!
windac

         Awwww. *Delight* Thank you!

Great job, Puditat Author IconMail Icon. I certainly related to these words: "I count myself as a pretty quick learner, but equally there are times I need a brick thrown at me to make me see the truth. Over time I have come to realise that I have inspiration on tap, when I need it. Even knowing that, I do forget to turn it on some days."

Perhaps it's because I really did begin my writing experiences sitting in a cherry tree and watching God's world around me that I've always found inspiration in His world. A young writer once told me I was so blessed that I didn't ever experience writer's block. I told her that we are all quite blessed to behold the beauty around us. And as writers, it's our job to tell what we have seen.

Inspiration is all around us. Once, as I loaded the dishwasher, I discovered one of favorite mugs was chipped. I wrote about that.

Thanks, again, for the wonderful newsletter.

Blessings,

Thank you so much! My own writing days began in a cherry tree too. Where the branch was my horse, and the world my playground. Life was simpler back then, and my dreams ran free in writing. I absolutely love how we can write about anything, if only I remember to really, truly look. *Wink*

Thanks for printing my comments (and excuse the spelling mistake - should be Textus Receptus). I have been a Bible Translator for 23 years, working mainly in Africa. Yes, it would be interesting to know how the profits from English versions (of which, in my view there are far to many!) are used. As far as versions in minority languages round the world, Bible societies round the world heavily subsidise versions for local groups, depending on the circumstances of the group in question. Our NT sold for about the equivalent of 75c - and we sold about 700 on the day it was dedicated. We did make gifts of the NTs to all the pastors in the area, but it is rare to give out Bibles completely free to everyone because then people rarely appreciate them. It is a great priviledge to be involved in such work but the responsibility is overwhelming at times

Thank you for the comments. It is interesting about translating of Scripture and giving Bibles away. It reminds me of what our Pastor said in church just this past Sunday. A missionary in Papua New Guinea spent 18 years of her life translating the New Testament into the local, tribal language (incidentally, they had no word for "love"). At the end she presented them copies of it, and they did not want it. Just two years later, they were requesting more copies than were available. There is a purpose in these things we are called to do.

To the editor

I like what you had to say. I believe your right. I myself draw apoun the lord for words, pharses and just plain old worshiping him is the best. Thanks Scope 57

I agree! Worship is the best. *Bigsmile*

This was a nice piece to read so early in the morning because I can relate to the wind always being in my way. Very good and touching at the same time.
