~ ~ Busy and Overwhelmed! ~ ~
This month has completely slipped by me and for the first time in over two years, I am a day behind with my newsletter! Usually, I try to have my newsletters close to finished a few weeks in advance, but this month has been total chaos. Birthdays, Mother's Day, gardening, yardwork, career, family, etc., and everyone seems to need an extra piece of me lately. Where does the time go? And how can we harness a little for ourselves? I've not only NOT written anything other than bills this month, but my fiddle practicing on some days is a mere one tune. Now that is BAD! In fact, I'm seriously considering quitting my lessons, as I feel I'm not meeting my potential at $20 bucks a week for an hour's lesson.
And so... here I am, sharing my frustrations. Perhaps some of you can relate, eh?
In one week my husband and I will be flying to Colorado, picking up the grandkids, and renting a vehicle so we can travel to Utah. I am so excited about this, and I think it will be good for me to get away from my every day responsibilities for twelve days. I'm definitely going to bring pencil and paper with me, and hope I can drain my mind of job, duties, bills, etc. so I can once again feel creative!
Have a great week!

~~~And Now... For Our Featured Newbie Presentation!~~~
Excerpt: Tom Miller was thrilled. The old mansion was everything the realtor had told him it would be. Sure, the front porch sagged a bit, the roof could use a few new shingles, the graying paint had begun to peel, and crawling vines covered the entire west side of the building. But he could fix all that.
Excerpt: At first, my limbs sprawled all over the place as I tried my hardest to make sense of my body. Air was beating against me, using all of its power to try and make me collapse into a tumbling ball of humanity, but I summoned all of my strength and prevailed. As if I were a kite suddenly thrust into the bright blue sky over a windy beach, my arms and legs snapped out, and I changed from a stumbling amateur to a professional, a legionnaire of the sky.
Thank you for the wonderful newsletter this week! I loved your animated images and your explanation of keeping items private. Newbies might want to learn about keyed items next?
Schip
Thanks, Schip! Actually, I had thought about including information about groups and keys and stuff, but I thought it might be a bit much for one newsletter. We are definitely on the same track here, as my plan was to cover it in the June newsletter, if the other editors had not thought up the same idea by then.
Answer to question;
My biggest inspiration is my life and all of the stuff (good or bad) that goes through it. I write from my own experience and of my own feelings and personality.
You are not alone, that's for sure! Your own experiences are what you know best, and who could better write about them but you? Thank you for responding to my question.
Awesome newsletter, Cubby! Very helpful for Newbies and even for me . BTW, I just love your dancing eggs!!!!
Darkin
Thanks, Darkin. The eggs represented Newbies, plus sort of covered the Easter holiday. I'm glad the newsletter was helpful to you. Even as Moderators, we never stop learning. There's just so much information here at Writing.com, and it's continually growing. Who could ever get bored here?
Nice content.
Too much movement.
Thank you very much. Sometimes I do get a bit carried away with the animation, so please bear with me.
Thanks for another useful newsletter. The animated scenes are as enjoyable as your newsletter.
As to inspiration, I think that our journey in life is full of inspirations and that even the smallest things that passes sometimes unnoticed can inspire us a lot.
You are very welcome, and thank you for the great response. Your feedback actually made me think of something I'd never thought of before... Writers must be very intuned to their feelings, along with others around them, to write well. And perhaps those who have no interest in writing, are not inspired to write because they are not moved by the smallest things that sometimes passes by us unnoticed. I don't know. Maybe that sounds confusing to some, but it definitely got me thinking. And it also inspired this week's Question of the Month
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Quote: Are we, who want to create, in some way specially talented people? Or has everybody else simply given up, either by pressures of modesty or laziness, and closed their ears from their inner need to create, until that need has died, forgotten and abandoned? When you look at children, you start to think the latter. I still haven't met a child who doesn't love - or who at least hasn't loved - drawing, writing or some other creative activity.
~Natalia Laurila
Cubby's Question(s) of the Month
~Do you think it takes talent to be a good writer?
~Do you think anyone has the creativity to write decently?
~Do you think people who write are more sensitive to the little things in life, and then inspired to create something?
Please share your thoughts on one or more of these questions.
See you again on June 14th!
