A Place For You
Writing.Com is really a place for everyone.
The writers:
The site offers writers one of the most diverse places to learn to write at their own pace. Whether a writer wants to learn how to instill life into 6 word stories, epic poems, short stories or novels, it's all here. There are classes, contests, challenges, groups, discussion forums for writers. Some of those are limited by genre or by type. Writers of any skill level have a place to post their writing.
The readers:
Readers who want to have easy, free access to thousands of pieces of literature can find it right here. I have, in the past, searched for information on a topic and found it right here on the site. Because nobody asks for academic credentials to post here, the writing may not adhere to academic standards, but sometimes that is the charm of it. Reading about any topic from the text of an interested person who wrote it for personal reasons can be so much more understandable than reading an academic text about it.
The reviewers:
One of the best parts here is how interactive everything is. Where else does a reader have one-on-one contact with the writer of a piece? Where does a writer have one-on-one contact with a reader? Being able to read and comment on the text makes reading so much more satisfying. Reading each other's work can spark great conversations about grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and more.
The learners:
Because Writing.Com attracts writers from all around the world and from so many backgrounds, it is very possible to learn about non-writing topics right here on the site. But, this site is also the right place to come to learn how to master all aspects of writing in a comfortable setting.
The teachers:
Some people really like to help others and they are right here on the site. They give advice, offer educational activities, and help identify some of the scarier grammar and punctuation secrets of the English language.
The evergreens:
Members who have been with the site for years and are still active at writing, reading, reviewing, and more. Somehow, it's hard to grow tired of this site.
The newbies:
Writing.Com is hands down one of the friendliest and most inclusive places on the internet. Anyone who is new to the site and even just tries a little bit can find help on how to best use the site, writing advice, and lots more.
The activity hosts:
Some members really like the social aspect of the site. Year-round, there are fun activities to take part in. Those can be centered around writing or reviewing, but that's not all. There are post card groups, letter writing groups, zoom meetings ... and if there is anything that isn't here, somebody is probably thinking about it right now. Is it you?
