LAST ONE
Back in January 2019, I stepped away from my regular Writing.com official newsletter editing duties. I had been writing them for some time and felt that it was time to embark on a new journey. Then, in March 2020, I found myself back in the editor's chair for an open regular spot for this Drama Newsletter. And now I write this editorial as the last of my tenure as a regular Drama NL editor.
Ultimately, this particular slot just wasn't a good fit for me. After nine years of editing the Mystery Newsletter (and this past year editing Drama), I'm just not sure how much I have left to say about writing for genre. I've done the newsletters about ideas and plotting, characters and dialogue, marketing, genre conventions, and everything in between. I'm not sure I have anything new to add to the conversation that wouldn't just be a re-hash of other things I've already written about.
But I've realized that I really do enjoy editing newsletters for Writing.com, and so when the opportunity presented itself to do something a little different, I jumped at the chance. Starting [whenever my turn in the rotation begins], I'll be taking on a regular editor slot over at the Noticing Newbies official newsletter.
I'm looking forward to writing newsletters about a new topic entirely, namely Writing.com itself. As a resource for drawing attention to newer members, I'm also hoping to use that space to help draw new members' attention to a lot of the amazing features of this site and its community.
I hope you'll join me over at Noticing Newbies in the coming weeks, and thank you for the opportunity to spend a little time with you here at the Drama NL.
Until next time,
Jeff

I also encourage you to check out the following items:
EXCERPT: Recently divorced, Janet Harlow, a 33 year-old mother of two boys, Bobby age 11 and Tommy age 14, for the first time, since she was married, she became employed. While feeling she is on top of the world right now, Janet bought a new car, which illustrates her new found freedom, and demonstrates her single-handed success.
EXCERPT: The morning salt air was sharp, and MacGwire hated rising to it. Fifteen years in the small cove-bound fishing village of Black Cliffs, and still not a day greeted him that he did not resent every dark grain of sand on the beach. Sighing as only a man chained to fate can do, he stumped into the tiny kitchen.
EXCERPT: Friday morning brought gray clouds and rain. How appropriate! I knew there was a possibility of protesters but hadn’t mentioned it to my daughter, who had enough on her mind. Sure enough, the rain hadn’t kept them away.
EXCERPT: The big man's car stopped at the corner. He reached across in front of me and gave my mother a twenty dollar bill, and said, "Get your baby some milk."
EXCERPT: Jeanne heard Terry's sled team coming up the hill. She leaned out the window and watched her mate pull the team up, unhitch them, get them settled in the kennel, and feed them. By the time they were done, Jeanne had cleaned up her own team's harnesses and put them away in good order. She went over to Terry's sled and started unloading. Terry came up from behind and gave Jeanne a gentle pat. She turned around and they nuzzled a bit in the cold Arctic air.
