Hello everyone, I’m Samberine Everose and I'm here, one of the guest editors in the Noticing Newbies Topic of the WDC Newsletter, and just like I've been saying, I will not be tired in expressing my thankfulness to all the beautiful people here in this wonderful community of writers for not only helping us to improve our writings but giving us also encouragement and inspiration every day.
I remember what it was like to be a newbie here at WDC. I have fond memories of various members who have since become my friends. Whenever I visit the site, I can't help but smile as I reflect on those good days; I often experience a sense of "Newbie Nostalgia." |

Newbie Nostalgia
I miss being a newbie—the thrill, the curiosity, the innocence, and the interactions with new online friends during those early days. Although I have achieved many things in this wonderful home for writers, developed my passion in writing and which have allowed me to create and publish eBooks on Amazon and other platforms, nothing compares to the happiness I felt when I was still a newbie.
Here are some things I loved about this site that always thrilled me back then, and still:
1. Creation - The creation of both images and writing enhances our creativity. It ignites our passion not only for wordplay but also for imagery, which combines the two art forms.
2. Interaction - Participation in contests improves our competitiveness while also developing our sportsmanship and support for one another. Even if these contests are online and not in person, they create a sense of camaraderie among friends.
3. Awards - Celebrating achievements helps us grow as individuals. The awards and badges we receive demonstrate the thoughtfulness of our wonderful friends and members in this community.
4. Friendship - Although our connections may be virtual, the friendships we form here are invaluable and meaningful.
5. Thoughtfulness - Simple gestures, such as sending surprise gifts or even a heartfelt message, can brighten our days.
I've been at writing.com for 12 years now. It doesn't sound very long, but I feel quite old. This is mainly due to the many obligations and responsibilities I have with work and family. My time here at writing.com has become limited, and I only log in to create my regular newsletters.
I fondly remember those old times and the group of friends who inspired, encouraged, and motivated me to dream bigger. I often wonder where they are now, and I feel a wave of nostalgia whenever I stumble across their portfolios . It reminds me of my own journey as a newbie on writing.com.
Nothing really beats that first experience of being a newbie.
