Have your moods ever affected your writing?
I’ve compiled a list of various factors that influence me as a writer.

Letter from the editor

What Affects Your Mood as a Writer?

Currently, it is the rainy season here in the Philippines, and to be honest, it’s one of the toughest seasons for me, second only to the cold season. The rain often dampens my mood, making it difficult to find inspiration. I sometimes feel uninspired, and my anxiety kicks in, weighing me down with concerns about the future and an overwhelming stream of "what if" questions.

When I was still a kid, I was terrified of the Incredible Hulk. To me, he looked like a monster, not a hero. I often woke up crying from nightmares where he would come and take me away.

Now that I’ve grown up, I’m no longer afraid of the Incredible Hulk, but my fears to him have transformed into worries about life and 'mondays. Despite this, there is always the encouraging voice inside me that gives me the strength to keep going. However, I still struggle with these human vulnerabilities. These thoughts and fears often affect my mood as a writer, that sometimes leading to writer's block.

Here are also some additional factors that influence my mood as a writer:

*Tackr* 1. Seasons: As I've mentioned, the change of seasons greatly impacts my mood. I tend to feel energetic during summer but sluggish on cold and rainy days.

*Tackr*2.Words: I have a deep appreciation for words, so I’m very sensitive on them. The words others throw at me can affect my feelings, leading to either discouragement or encouragement. I try to fill my mind with uplifting thoughts by reading the Bible, but today, due to my online class, some physical and negative words have affected me.

*Tackr*3. Workload: I often become stressed when I have a heavy workload, which negatively impacts my writing.

*Tackr*4. Fears: Like anyone else, I grapple with fears—I'm only human, after all. However, I thank God and the spirit within me for nurturing and strengthening me, helping me not to give up and to keep moving forward.

As a lover of words, we often encounter triggers that affect our mood and, consequently, our writing. This can lead to writer's block. It’s essential then to fill our minds with encouragement and seek out positive influences to inspire our creativity.

What about you? What affects your mood as a writer?
