Letter from the editor

It is almost that time of year again, the nights have drawn in, the weather has turned frosty and the big talk is when to drag out the decorations box for the coming festivities, but just because there is a chill in the air, that doesn’t mean it is time to turn off the heat in the romance department. In fact it is a perfect opportunity to find that special loved one.

I talked last month about love and romance at work, so what about the office party? From the many I have talked to, it seems that more than a few have a tale to tell about an office party they have been to, a quick kiss with the office flirt under the mistletoe, having too much wine and ending up making a fool in the name of love with another colleague, or finally plucking up the courage to speak to the person they have been fancying all year. The office party seems to be great places to let some of those inhibitions go.

Of course where there is a place for love and romance, there is a story, this is a chance to really let your imagination go wild, there is a plethora of plots, sub plots twists and turns that you can craft into unique stories: romantic entanglements with the boss and subsequent consequences, a kiss under the mistletoe leading to a blossoming romance, the list goes on, and what about the day after? The hot gossip, jealousy or conflict among office staff following a long awaited kiss with the hottest guy or girl at work, the scope is plentiful.

Whatever your angle, there are a myriad of romantic ways you can write about an office party.
